The Association of British Insurers (ABI) represents the collective interests of the UK’s insurance industry. The role of the *ABI is to promote debate and the highest possible standards of customer service in the insurance industry.

Formed in 1985 The Association was originally created from a merging of a number of existing industry bodies - The British Insurance Association, the Life Offices’ Association, the Fire Offices Committee and the Accident Offices Association.

The ABI through its role aims to bring together its members and their customers in an environment conducive to high levels of service and professionalism. The ABI also delivers proactive leadership for the saving and protection products industry in the UK.
