  • MINI One
  • MINI Cooper
  • MINI S Works

Launched in 1959 the Mini has captured the imagination of drivers across the globe. Originally designed as British Motor Corporations (BMC) answer to the original bubble cars, the first Mini's seated four adults, and cost just short of £500.

The Mini has been awarded the rather grand title of Autocar "Car of The Century", due in main to the social impact and changes the car has brought about. It is 47 years old (2006), and has been purchased new by 5,387,862 people and loved (and hated) by millions more.

Over the next 20 years, through the swinging sixties in Britain, the Mini grew in popularity and achieved style icon status. New performance models were introduced including the Mini Cooper, developed by John Cooper. The Mini Cooper was a major player in the race and rally scene of the 1960's.

Without question it is the most successful motor car Britain has ever designed and manufactured. Virtually every small car you can see on UK roads has taken a styling cue from the Mini. It is for these reasons that the Mini brand was viewed as so attractive to BMW and subsequently purchased by the German automobile giant.

The new MINI currently comes in three models, the standard MINI One with a 1.6 liter 90bhp Chrysler engine, the Cooper powered by a 115bhp version of the same engine and the Cooper S adding a supercharger.

As a leading brand and car manufacturer, BMW Mini offers car insurance, guaranteed asset protection policies, payment protection plans, travel cover, hire purchase and vehicle leasing.

The company approached UK Insurance Ltd (who own Direct Line), which is in turn part of the Royal Bank of Scotland to provide an insurance solution specifically for their vehicles. The result is Mini Car Insurance. Policies can be purchased online or via their call centre and include the following features:

  • Repairs carried out by trained technicians at Mini approved body shops, using only original parts.
